Wooden Stitching Pony is a very useful piece of kit for a budding leather crafter, crafted from lovely Beech wood with a solid Walnut clamp head.

You can clamp your project into the pony, leaving your hands free to saddle stitch. Clamp it onto a desk or place it on the flat bed piece to work on smaller items.

A useful piece of kit, but needed modification before use

A useful piece of kit, but I needed to modify it before use - the knurled knob is extremely difficult to grip and turn, so I replaced it with a new bolt and a wing nut. I also used a thicker bolt and wing nut for attaching the pony to the base. But otherwise the wooden construction is pleasing, and it looks sturdy. So far I have used it for stitching a book, so expect to have a wide range of uses for it.

Speedy delivery and a beginners delight!

Arrived super quickly and in perfect condition.

Feels sturdy enough besides a little twisting at the base if not screwed down tight enough but that's on me and is a simple enough fix. Holds work pieces securely and, as a newcomer to leather work, makes learning so much easier. As if this pony didn't already save me from wrangling everything by hand, the little magnets on the back of the jaws are an excellent little addition to keep the last remaining unruly bits at bay.

All in all, a marvellous tool that I can see serving long past my learning period. No reason to not recommend.

Stitching horse leather clam

I like theproduct, however I found that the wooden screw to close the clap was difficult to close tight,.I was sewing a heavy horse headcollar and would have liked it tighter, because the wooden screw was smooth, I could not get it tight enough.

You may find that adding a little extra grip, such as using a piece of cloth when tightening, can help achieve a firmer hold.
